Our dreams do not come from 'another world'. They are not message from some outside sources. They are not a look into the future, nor do they foretell anything.
All our dreams have some connections with our emotions, fears, longings, wishes, memories and needs. But something on the 'outside' may influence our dreams. The material for the dream we have tonight is likely to come from the experience we have today. The content of our dream comes from something that affects us while we are sleeping and may also use our past experiences and interests we have now.
Psychoanalysts who have made a special study on dreams believe that dreams are expressions of wishes that didn't come true or of frustrated yearnings. In other words, a dream is a way of having one's wish fulfilled. According to this theory, our inhibitions also sleep. Dreams provide an outlet for our wishes and they may be the ones which we don't know we had.
